my husband taught me how to make fried eggs. i made my first attempt this morning to make them and they came out perfect except for the yolks. i like really runny yolks and they turned out hard. but thats ok. at least i successfully made fried eggs.

Yeah, congratulations. I always burn the bloody things to a cinder if I fry them and you don't make them in the oven either. A frying pan, a dessert spoonful of cooking oil or lard, two large and very fresh eggs, a wooden/plastic spatula or fish slice and one of those hoops so they don't fuse together's about all you need, plus a timer set for one minute on each side, tilting the saucepan to help the yolks settle in the middle. That's where I tend to screw up and all the edges go quite crispy and the eggs catch on the bottom of the pan. Oopsy.

ah ok. very good tips. thanks alot. is that how long to do it so the yolks will be runny the way i like them? i cant stand hard yokes

Post 8 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Sunday, 30-Dec-2007 7:54:26

Yeah, I reckon about 45 seconds on each side so the yolks remain nice and runny. I'm giving fried eggs another go tomorrow when mum's at work and I won't get in her way, lol.

hahaha yumm. ya i am going to do them again this morning. someone told me in a qn that if i couldn't do a basic thing like fry an egg, how was i going to be able to cook for my children. and then this person goes to say that if i am still learning independant skills, that i shouldn't have children. i got a bit upset, but i explained to this person that i already know independant living skills because i do most of the house work anyway. and that it was my first attempt at frying eggs. the person seemed to understand after that.

Bugger it! Didn't get to do eggs today as I have yet another knock-out cold and spent most of the morning zonked out and mum left a container of last night's maccaroni cheese in the fridge for my lunch, but maybe later this week if there isn't a lot of food left over from tomorrow's shindig here, I'll knock up some more fried eggs, lol.

oh man that sucks. i get over my colds very quickly because my immune system is extrenely good. in fact, medication makes the cold last longer. ooooh speaking of immune system, i need to take my prenaital vitamen. no, i am not pregnant, i just want to grow my hair and nails longer. i got all of the dead ends cut off of my hair yesterday and it is a bit past my shoulders now instead of covering my breasts like it did.

oh yeah. and here. to knock up means to get someone pregnant out of wedlock lol. but no problem, i know what u ment.

Yeah, maybe, but it also means get something to eat easily/quickly. J.K. Rowling used it in that context on Chapter 5, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, book 7.

Congratulations on the accomplishment Somanea. I'm hoping that one day I might be able to do the same thing.
As as side note, HP does rock.

Yay. I love the eggs hard as a rock. My boiled ones this weekend were too runny grrr, but I have not tackled fried ones yet.

*raises her hand!* It was me all. I am the person refered to in post 9. *chuckles* It's just that to me, frying an egg seems like basic cooking. Sorry if others disagree...

Wow, this post, and other recent ones from this user, really make me wonder why people are so fascinated with blogs and live journals. I could tell people I had two espressos today, I had to work late because of IFRS-7 requirements, probably have to work late tomorrow too, a teleconference with my last employer was postponed, that I had 3 meetings today etc, but I can't imagine who would ever want to read that drevil or be the least bit interested. I'm sure these are all good achievements but I couldn't care less, even if I tried. Not saying it's wrong to post them or anything on the boards, after all I can skip reading them if I want to, but I just think it's funny they get so many responses because, to me, they're fascinatedly uninteresting.

lol B. Agreed. But I suppose it's users like you and I who keep posting to make it longer and longer. hahaha *chuckles*

i know that frying eggs is basic cooking. it is getting them the way that u want them that is a bit difficult.
